Op zaterdag 12 maart was er een kort fragment van mij te zien in het TV-programma ‘De Zwarte Lijst‘. (Zie hieronder of op Uitzending Gemist. Spoel door naar 58min47sec.) 3fm DJ Giel Beelen laat een fragment van ‘Common Ground’ met Ivar Vermeulen on vocals zien als een van zijn favoriete tracks uit ‘De Zwarte Lijst’ en spreekt een paar lovende woorden. “..Dit is 2 keer goed Nederlands. Dit is Rob van de Wouw, een van de beste trompettisten van de wereld mag ik wel zeggen en Ivar een van de beste zangers.. Waanzinnig!” Aldus Giel Beelen.

Nou ja.. als hij t zegt…

Naar aanleiding hiervan kreeg ik veel leuke reacties over mijn samenwerking met Ivar. Ik heb met hem op allebei mijn albums samengewerk (Reboot Your Soul (3tracks: Slowly, Send it On en Let You Go) en op Tunnelvision (1 track: Common Ground). Ik heb ze hieronder in een youtube playlist op een rij gezet! (ook verkrijgbaar op bol.com: Tunnelvision en Reboot Your Soul)

Recently I started writing for my new album. I don’t know yet when it will be released, but I’m aiming for late 2011 or early 2012. I asked my friends Wiboud Burkens and Ruben van Roon (a.k.a. DJ Kikke) to co-write and produce this album with me. About the musical direction we’re going I can’t tell anything yet. But we are breeding in the lab on some very futuristic new concepts (again totally different of what I did before) and I am very excited about what’s coming out of it.  I’ll keep you posted on the progress!

Hilversum, 27 oktober 2010 – Vandaag heeft Matthijs van Nieuwkerk in ‘De Wereld Draait Door‘ trompetist Rob van de Wouw verrast met de uitslag van de Edison Jazzism Publieksprijs. Zijn album Tunnelvision, een mengsel van triphop met jazz, heeft van het publiek de meeste stemmen gekregen. Op 11 november aanstaande zal Van de Wouw zijn Edison in Eindhoven in ontvangst nemen.

De Edison Jazzism Publieksprijs is een initiatief van de Edison Stichting en het blad Jazzism Magazine. Lezers van het blad konden in de afgelopen maanden via de Edison website stemmen op hun favoriete artiest met bijbehorend album. Dat resulteerde in een spannende afvalrace tot een shortlist van drie artiesten. Met een totaalscore van ruim 43% van de stemmen is Rob van de Wouw de winnaar, gevolgd door Benjamin Herman met het album Blue Sky Blond. Als derde eindigde Sven Hammond Soul met het album The Marmelade Sessions.

De publieksprijs wordt ondersteund door Radio 6. Dit station zal uitgebreid aandacht besteden aan de winnaar. Tijdens de uitreiking van de Edison Jazz/World, op donderdag 11 november aanstaande, zal Rob van de Wouw onder begeleiding van het Metropole Orkest optreden in het Muziekgebouw Frits Philips te Eindhoven en is live te beluisteren op Radio 6. De winnaar van de Edison Oeuvreprijs, Chaka Khan, komt naar Eindhoven om het beeld in ontvangst te nemen en geeft een optreden van ruim een uur met het Metropole Orkest o.l.v. Vince Mendoza. Mark de Clive-Lowe did a great remix of ‘Common Ground’ which appears on my Tunnelvision album featuring Ivar (in my opinion one of the best soul-singers on this site of the ocean, currently seeking for inspiration and writing songs on a roadtrip around the world) on vocals. MdCL’s remix takes the song from mid-tempo soul to the club with a groove that takes you back to classic late 90’s MAW and Ivar’s uplifting vocals.
I’m very happy to announce that it will be released this coming months  on 2 albums!
